Riga april 2015
During Easter break Andreas and I went to Riga, Latvia for a long weekend with our friends Victor and Julia. We had a great time and I would highly recommend Riga for shorter stays. It's a middle sized city with a population of around 750,000 people as of 2015. Due to the weather being rather cold and rainy our trip was mainly social/food oriented, so I'm not exactly an expert on the more refined, cultural side of Riga. It's a pretty city, especially the Old Town area, with lots of art nouveau architecture and many old churches. Our favorite spot was Folkklubs Ala Pagrabs in Old Town. Although it's also a tourist hangout, it seems to have a real, authentic feel, with dancing, live bands, and traditional Latvian food. Another place I would recommend is Skybar at the top of the Radisson BLU hotel, hands down best view of the whole city. There was a really beautiful park running through downtown as well, just outside of Old Town. Again, due to the rainy weather and time of year, my pictures don't do Riga justice. The last 4 pictures posted weren't taken by me, but give you an idea of how it looks in better weather conditions.
